Art deco and laminated celluloid. Parker introduced the Vacumatic in 1933; "Parker Vacumatics are my favorite. Sheaffer streamlined the Balance, Waterman made the Patrician and the Ink-Vue, Wahl the Doric. He calls the 1920s through the 1950s "really sort of the golden age of fountain pens" (The Day, 2022).
