"O = Oblique": the tip is cut at an angle for writers who hold the pen rotated. Sheaffer marked left and right obliques with an L or R suffix, and the number on a vintage nib rarely tells you what it is: "it is really difficult to gauge a nib by its number" (a-nib-by-any-other-numberis-still-confusing).
