What “Stub” means here
"Stub = Awesomeness" in his key (search-by-nib-size). A stub is cut flat and rounded, so downstrokes are wide and cross strokes thin; an italic is the crisp version. Esterbrook's 9314F "wrote a fine stub line for a fancy writing effect or calligraphy" (esterbrook-nibs-its-time-for-a-change). Lamy's calligraphy nibs run 1.1 to 1.9 mm.
