Description from Nathaniel
Sunburst 3556 nibs are an uncommon treat on Esterbrook Transition pens. The nib is likely more valuable than this vintage pen. Is this a true Esterbrook Transition pen? It is impossible to say. When the company began making J-series pens, it had a lot of leftover Dollar Pen barrels and no caps. As such, they gave the Dollar Pen barrels J caps. For the past 70-odd years pen repair people have been restoring Esterbrooks and mismatching barrels and caps to have a working model to sell. It is impossible to tell now which were original or recreated from old parts. We found this pen just as you see it. We restored this vintage pen with a new ink sac. The J-cap on this pen has the rarer three-band black-plastic cap "jewel." The pen shows wear and scratches from use but no cracks. You will write a really nice extra-fine line with the good feedback. It isn't so much scratchy or sticking in the paper as it lets you feel the paper beneath the nib. 12.2cm capped.
