Holy cats! Its an authentic, vintage Vacuum Fil fountain pen from before the time they were branded Sheaffer! It isn't holy grail rare, but it is the first one we've ever had to offer in nearly 20 years. Better yet, it is in stunning condition. Nice barrel clarity, clean imprint, no cracks or deep scratches. The only problem with it is that the plating is coming off the clip and cap band. Well, that and it doesn't work. It is too pristine for us to even want to try to fix. The piston moves but doesn't have suction. Sheaffer originally created this Vacuum Fil as a sub-brand...a second-tier experiment before they were ready to promote it as one of its own. Just for fun, we dipped its 14k gold nib. Luckily for the museum-piece collectors, it doesn't write very well. Kindofa sporadic dry extra-fine to fine without consistent flow. All the better to put it on display and gaze at its rare beauty. 12.8cm capped.
